Fraser River Fishing for Sturgeon, Salmon and Steelhead in British Columbia Fraser Valley Angling Guides Association

Salmon Fishing on the Fraser River - British Columbia

Salmon fishing in British Columbia on the Fraser River is world famous, mainly due to the extreme numbers of Chinook, Sockeye, Coho, Pink and Chum Salmon returning each year to their native place of birth.

King Salmon on the Fraser RiverChinook Salmon or King Salmon as they are sometimes referred to reach weights of 50 lbs and up with many in the 20 to 30 pound range. The largest most powerful of the Pacific British Columbia Salmon will test fishing equipment and angler alike. Any weak point in the system and they are gone.

Also caught during the summer months the Sockeye Salmon have become a very popular sport fish, with millions of fish returning to the river every year. Easily caught and strong fighting, these speedsters weigh between 5 and 12 pounds.
After the majority of Sockeye have passed through to their spawning streams in British Columbia the Pink Salmon return also in fantastic numbers (50 million last year). The Pinks only return on odd number years such as 2005-07-09 etc. but are a lot of fun to catch and make a good fish for the smoker.

Later in the fall we target Chum and Coho (silver's) Salmon, both being great sport fish and table fare. Coho are the high jumpers of the pacific Salmon and very exciting to see and catch.
